How to take a full page screenshot of a website

  1. Paste the address. Copy the URL from your browser bar and paste it in the box. You can leave out https://, we add it for you.
  2. Pick the view. Desktop opens the page in a 1366 px wide window, a common laptop width. Mobile opens it at 390 px wide, the size of a current iPhone, at double pixel density so text stays sharp.
  3. Choose the area. Full page captures everything from the top of the page to the footer. Visible area captures only what fits in the first screen, which is what a visitor sees before scrolling.
  4. Choose a format. PNG keeps text and flat colours crisp. JPG makes a smaller file. PDF gives you printable pages instead of one long image.
  5. Press Take screenshot, check the preview, then download the file.

Most pages are ready in 3 to 10 seconds. Long news pages and online shops can take longer because every image has to load before we capture. When we tested on 30 October 2026, example.com took 1 to 3 seconds, the BBC News front page on mobile about 5 seconds, and a Wikipedia article with a 22,000 pixel tall table about 16 seconds.

Hide common cookie and consent banners is on by default. It removes the pop ups from the most widely used consent tools so they do not cover the page. Some sites build their own banner, and those can still appear.

What this tool can and cannot capture

It captures the public version of a page, the one anyone sees without signing in. The browser we use starts fresh every time, with no cookies and no account, so it cannot see your inbox, a members area, a paywalled article or anything behind a login. For those, use the screenshot tool built into your own browser.

  • Pages are given up to 20 seconds to load. Very slow pages stop with a clear message.
  • Videos and live streams are not played, so a video shows as its poster frame or an empty box.
  • Some sites block automated visitors. When that happens you get a message, not a broken image.
  • Images that only load when you scroll usually appear, but a few sites load them in ways that leave gaps in a full page capture. A short wait often helps.
  • A few sites scroll inside their own frame instead of the page. On those, Full page returns only the first screen. In our tests one large news front page did this.
  • Private networks, local addresses, raw IP addresses and unusual ports are blocked for safety.

Privacy: what happens to your screenshot

We open the page on our side, turn it into an image and send that image straight back to your browser. We do not save the screenshot or the PDF on our servers, and nothing is published. The preview lives only in this tab and is gone when you close it.

To stop abuse, we keep a daily count of captures and of which website names were captured (for example example.com), without the rest of the address. Each person can make 6 captures a minute and 60 a day.

Need something else?

Want printable pages instead of one long image? Use Website to PDF. Need a smaller file? Run the screenshot through the image compressor. Want to trim it? The image cropper cuts out just the part you need, and image to text copies the words out of a screenshot.

Website screenshot FAQ

Is the website screenshot tool free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no paid plan. Each person can make 6 captures a minute and 60 a day so the tool stays fast for everyone.

How do I screenshot an entire web page, not just the top?

Keep Full page selected. We capture the page from top to bottom and return one tall image. Choose Visible area if you only want the first screen.

Can I see how a site looks on a phone?

Yes. Choose Mobile. The page opens at 390 px wide with a phone browser identity, so sites that adapt to phones show their mobile layout. The image is 780 px wide because it is captured at double pixel density.

Why is part of my screenshot blank or missing images?

Some pages load pictures only as you scroll or after an animation. Add a wait of 2 to 5 seconds and try again. Videos are not played, so they show as a still frame or an empty box.

Can I screenshot a page I am logged in to?

No. We open the page in a fresh browser with no account, so pages behind a login or a paywall show their sign in screen. Use your own browser's screenshot tool for private pages.

Do you keep my screenshots?

No. The file is sent straight to your browser and is not saved on our servers. We only keep daily counts, including the website name that was captured, to stop abuse.

Which format should I choose?

PNG for sharp text and interface screenshots, JPG for smaller files on photo heavy pages, and PDF when you want printable A4 or Letter pages.
