Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners. Cookies help enhance your browsing experience by remembering your preferences and understanding how you use the site.
How We Use Cookies
MergeImages.net uses cookies for the following purposes:
Essential Cookies
These cookies are needed for the site to work and to protect it from abuse. MergeImages.net has no accounts and no sign-in, so there is no login cookie.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare. Records that your browser passed the bot check | 1 year |
| mi_anon | Anonymous id that ties a result you generate back to your browser. Not a login | 400 days |
Analytics and Session Recording Cookies
These cookies identify your browser so we can measure how the site is used. PostHog also records browsing sessions, which is described in our Privacy Policy. Google Analytics cookies are set only when Google Consent Mode is granted. PostHog runs without a consent gate, on the legitimate interest basis.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4. Distinguishes browsers | 2 years |
| _ga_2MNM8W6V5T | Google Analytics 4. Keeps session state for our measurement id | 2 years |
| ph_phc_*_posthog | PostHog. Identifies the browser and the session that is recorded. The middle segment is our public project key | 1 year |
Preference Cookies
These cookies remember choices you make. We also store your cookie banner choice in your browser's local storage under the key cookie-consent rather than in a cookie, and an accepted choice there expires after 7 days so the banner asks again.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers the language you chose | Session |
Advertising Cookies
None. MergeImages.net does not show advertising. Google AdSense was removed on August 9, 2026, and no ad network serves ads on this site, so no advertising cookie is set. The cookies previously listed here, __gads, __gpi, and DART, belonged to AdSense and are no longer set. We use Grow by Mediavine for reader features only; its advertising product is not enabled for this site.
Third-Party Cookies
These third-party services run on MergeImages.net. Not all of them set cookies; the tables above list the cookies we observed:
- Google Analytics 4: Collects statistics about how the site is used
- Google Tag Manager: Loads and manages the Google tags on the site
- PostHog: Product analytics and session recording, hosted on our own servers and served from mergeimages.net addresses
- OpenPanel: Usage analytics, hosted on our own servers and served from mergeimages.net addresses
- Grow by Mediavine: Reader features, namely saved items, the subscribe prompt, and content recommendations
- GlitchTip: Error tracking, hosted on our own servers. It receives a report when the site throws an error in your browser
- Cloudflare: Serves and protects the site, runs the bot check, and measures page performance
PostHog, OpenPanel, and GlitchTip run on servers we control. Google, Mediavine, and Cloudflare are outside companies that may use what they receive across other websites, under their own privacy policies, and we recommend reviewing them.
Managing Cookies
You can control and manage cookies in several ways:
- Browser Settings: Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings
- Cookie Banner: Declining sets Google Consent Mode to denied, so Google Analytics stops setting cookies. It does not stop PostHog or OpenPanel
- Tracking Blockers: A blocker will usually stop Google Analytics. PostHog and OpenPanel are served from mergeimages.net addresses, so a blocker does not reliably stop them
- Private Browsing: Use incognito or private browsing so cookies are cleared when you close the window
Blocking cookies may affect how the site works. Blocking the Cloudflare cookie in particular can mean you are asked to pass the bot check more often.
