Cut the photo to exactly 25 x 35 mm (1.0" x 1.4") — any deviation beyond 0.5 mm can trigger rejection.

A standard 4x6 inch (10x15 cm) print sheet holds 12 photos at this size — a cost-effective option at any photo kiosk or home printer. Leave a small margin between cuts.

The background must be light grey and completely uniform — any gradients, shadows, or patterns are grounds for rejection.

India uses a 35x45mm (3.5 x 4.5 cm) passport size photo — the standard ICAO rectangular format, also accepted by Passport Seva (Ministry of External Affairs online portal) with white/light background and face occupying 50-60% of the frame. The same passport size photo is widely reused for PAN card, competitive exam applications, and most government forms.
