Matte finish photo paper. Indian passport size photo is 35x45mm (3.5 x 4.5 cm). Face should occupy 50-60% of photo. The same passport size photo format (35x45mm) is widely accepted for PAN card applications, competitive exam forms (UPSC, SSC, bank PO), and other government document submissions.. Cut the photo to exactly 35 x 35 mm (1.4" x 1.4") — any deviation beyond 0.5 mm can trigger rejection.

A standard 4x6 inch (10x15 cm) print sheet holds 8 photos at this size — a cost-effective option at any photo kiosk or home printer. Leave a small margin between cuts.

The background must be White or light-coloured background only (off-white accepted) and completely uniform — any gradients, shadows, or patterns are grounds for rejection.

India uses a 35x45mm (3.5 x 4.5 cm) passport size photo — the standard ICAO rectangular format, also accepted by Passport Seva (Ministry of External Affairs online portal) with white/light background and face occupying 50-60% of the frame. The same passport size photo is widely reused for PAN card, competitive exam applications, and most government forms. For US visa applications from India, the 51x51mm (2x2 inch) format is required instead.

Submit the printed OCI Card photo with your application documents. Confirm with the issuing authority whether they accept a single photo or require duplicates.

Photo recency requirement: Must be taken within the last 3 months (stricter than most countries).
