Merge images online in your browser
Merge images online without creating an account. I built this page as the direct starting point for combining photos into one file: add your images in the upload area above, choose a layout, adjust the look and export the result.
The image merge tool is free and anonymous. There are no credits, no paid plan and no watermark on the merged image.
If you need a grid instead of a simple row or stack, use the Photo Collage Maker. For a page that starts on one direction, see Horizontal Image Merge or Vertical Image Merge. If you want one photo on top of another rather than beside it, use Overlay Images.
Merge photos into one image
A photo merge puts two or more photos into one output image. Whether you call it photo merge, merge pictures or image merger, the goal is the same: combine image files without opening separate editing software.
The preview appears as soon as you add the first image, and Merge & Download becomes active once 2 images are in place. Use Add More or Upload multiple to include more files, drag the thumbnails to change their order, and remove any image to replace it before you export.
There is no small cap on how many images you can add. A very long row or stack can go past the largest canvas your browser will draw. When that happens, the tool scales the output down to fit and shows the final size under the merge button.
The Combine Photos Online and Photo Joiner pages use the same merge tool with their own starting settings.
Horizontal and vertical image merge
Merge images horizontally
A horizontal merge places the images side by side, left to right. The result is a wide image that works for comparisons, before-and-after pairs and product rows.
Merge images vertically
A vertical merge stacks the images from top to bottom. The result is a tall image, useful for step-by-step screenshots or a long scrolling post. A vertical stack follows the shape of your photos, so it does not force a fixed ratio such as 9:16.
Image merge settings that control the result
Match images of different sizes
The Match sizes control has four options: Keep original sizes, Match largest, Match smallest and Crop to match. When your photos have different heights (or widths in a vertical merge), the tool also points out the mismatch and offers to match them for you.
Control spacing, borders and background
Spacing runs from 0 to 100 px, border width from 0 to 20 px and rounded corners from 0 to 50 px. The background behind the gaps can be transparent, white or any color you pick.
Choose the output format
PNG, JPEG and WebP are available under Export. Choose PNG when you want to keep a transparent background. JPEG adds a quality slider from 60 to 100%.
Combine images into one
To combine images into one file, upload them all first, then settle the order in the preview. Combining photos side by side and merging them is the same job here, so the steps below work for pictures, screenshots and scans alike.
- Upload your images. Add at least 2 JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP files.
- Choose a layout. Pick horizontal or vertical.
- Set the size behavior. Keep original sizes, match the largest, match the smallest or crop to match.
- Adjust spacing and background. Add a gap and keep it transparent or fill it with a color.
- Refine the edges. Add a border or round the corners if you want a framed look.
- Merge and download. Select Merge & Download to save the combined image.
Crop and combine images
Crop to match center-crops the larger images so they share the same height in a horizontal merge, or the same width in a vertical one, which removes uneven edges without a separate crop step.
When to use a different layout
- Use horizontal placement for a wide image with photos from left to right.
- Use vertical placement for a tall image with photos from top to bottom.
- Use a grid collage in the Photo Collage Maker when you need several images in rows and columns.
- Use Overlay Images when one image should sit on top of another with transparency.
Privacy when using the merge tool
The image merge runs in your browser and does not upload your files, from the first upload through the download. That statement covers the merge workflow on this page.
Each image slot also has an optional Remove Background button. It is a different action: if you press it, that one image is uploaded for background removal. Nothing is sent unless you press it.
For the complete site policy, read the Privacy Policy.
Can you merge images on a phone?
The page is responsive and works on smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. Once 2 images are added on a small screen, a merge bar stays at the bottom with the export format and the Merge & Download button.
About MergeImages
MergeImages.net started as a simple image merging tool and grew into a broader collection of image tools. It is built and maintained by Bello M. Amadou.
I keep the main merge workflow free and available without an account. The goal is simple: add your images, choose the arrangement and leave with the combined file.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I merge images online for free?
Add at least 2 images to the upload area, choose a horizontal or vertical layout, adjust the settings you need and select Merge & Download. You do not need an account.
Can I merge two photos or multiple images?
Yes. You can merge two photos or many files. Use Add More or Upload multiple to include more images, drag them to change the order and remove any image to replace it.
Can I combine images with different sizes and formats?
Yes. The tool accepts JPG, PNG, GIF and WebP files in the same merge. The Match sizes control lets you keep original sizes, match the largest or smallest image, or crop the images to match.
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical merging?
A horizontal merge places images from left to right and creates a wide result. A vertical merge stacks images from top to bottom and creates a tall result.
Can I add spacing and change the background?
Yes. Spacing goes from 0 to 100 px, and you can set a border width, rounded corners and a background color, or keep the background transparent.
Which formats can I download after merging?
You can export the combined image as PNG, JPEG or WebP. PNG keeps a transparent background. JPEG adds a quality slider from 60 to 100%.
Is there a limit on how many images I can merge?
There is no small cap on the number of images. If the combined result is larger than your browser can draw, the tool scales the output down and shows the final size.
Is this online photo merger free, and does it add a watermark?
Yes, it is free. The merge tool needs no account and does not add a watermark to the exported image.
Are my images uploaded when I use the merge tool?
No. The merge runs in your browser and your files are not uploaded on that path. The optional Remove Background button on an image slot is the exception: pressing it uploads that one image for background removal.
Can I use the image merge tool on a phone?
Yes. The page is responsive and works on smartphones, tablets and desktop computers.
