Flipkart Listing Photo Background Remover
If you sell apparel on Flipkart and you have been uploading cutouts on pure white, this page exists for you. Flipkart's listing documentation says plainly that apparel needs a light grey background with a soft shadow and that white will not be accepted — the opposite of what most background-remover preset pages publish. Upload your shot, pick apparel or non-apparel, and the editor seeds the right background, turns the shadow on where it is required, and exports a JPEG at a listing-safe size.
Pick your category
Flipkart does not apply one rule to everything. Each option below loads the editor with a different export size and background.
Flipkart states the colour family (light grey) and the shadow, not a hex or a pixel size. #F5F5F5 and 1500 x 1500 are our defaults above Flipkart's stated 1000 x 1000 floor.

What Flipkart actually requires
Flipkart's stated floor is modest — at least 1000 by 1000 pixels, JPEG only, at least two images and preferably three. The interesting rule is the background, because it is category-dependent in a way almost nobody reproduces. Outside apparel, white or light grey are both fine. Inside apparel, the documentation is unambiguous: a light grey background with a soft shadow is required and a white background will not be accepted. The apparel rules go further than colour — front and back views are mandatory, the same model has to appear in every shot of that product, the garment must be properly ironed with no creases, and mannequin images are not allowed. Footwear gets its own list: front, back, angled, top and sole, on a real model.
The rejection this page exists to prevent: apparel on pure white
A seller reads a generic "marketplaces want pure white 255,255,255" guide, runs the whole catalogue through a background remover set to white, uploads, and the apparel SKUs come back rejected while the accessories sail through. The rule is right there in Flipkart's listing documentation and it says white will not be accepted for apparel. Worse, the fix is not just a colour swap: the same sentence asks for a soft shadow, so a flat grey fill with a hard-edged cutout floating on it can still read as unfinished. The apparel preset on this page sets the fill to a light grey and turns the drop shadow on at the same time, because those two requirements arrive in one sentence and should be applied together.
What this page will not do for you
A background remover cannot satisfy most of what Flipkart asks for in apparel. It cannot produce the mandatory back view, it cannot put the same model in every shot, and it certainly cannot iron a garment. What it does is the one job it should: lift your product off whatever it was photographed against, put it on the light grey field with the soft shadow that Flipkart's apparel rule requires, and hand you a JPEG. It never upscales, so if your crop is under 1500 px wide the page tells you and points at the upscaler. Flipkart publishes no file-size ceiling, so we do not invent one.
Flipkart photo questions
Does Flipkart accept a white background for clothing?
No. Flipkart's listing image documentation states that for apparel a light grey background with a soft shadow is required and that a white background will not be accepted. White remains acceptable for non-apparel categories. This is the single most common piece of misinformation in marketplace photo guides, which almost universally tell sellers that every marketplace wants pure white.
What light grey should I use for Flipkart apparel?
Flipkart names the colour family, not a hex value, so any light neutral grey is defensible. The apparel preset here defaults to #F5F5F5 and turns on a soft drop shadow at the same time, because the requirement is one sentence covering both. You can change the hex in the colour picker if your studio already standardised on a different light grey.
What size should a Flipkart listing image be?
The documented floor is 1000 x 1000. The presets here export 1500 x 1500, comfortably above the floor while still being a pure downscale from a normal camera or phone photo. That is our choice, not a Flipkart rule, and the spec table on this page marks it as such.
Can I upload PNG to Flipkart?
The documentation says only JPEG is allowed, so the presets on this page export JPEG. If you want a transparent PNG of the same cutout to reuse in banners or A+ style content, switch the background control to Transparent and the format to PNG after you have exported the JPEG. Both exports come from the same cutout, so nothing is reprocessed.
Selling the same SKU in more than one place? The background rules genuinely differ between these platforms — do not reuse one export everywhere.
