A rectangle you drag on one photo means nothing on the next one, so a batch cropper cannot work the way a single-image cropper does. This page asks for two things instead: the aspect ratio you want and which part of the frame matters. For each file it then computes the largest rectangle of that ratio that fits inside the original and trims to it. A 4000 × 3000 photo cropped to 1:1 becomes 3000 × 3000; the same ratio applied to a 1080 × 1920 phone shot becomes 1080 × 1080. Nothing is scaled, so every output keeps its original pixel density.

36 product shots that have to line up in a grid

A seller has 36 photos of the same jewellery line, shot handheld, some landscape and some portrait. The storefront lays them out in a square grid and centre-crops whatever it is given, which is why half the pendants are cut off. Cropping to 1:1 with the anchor on centre gives 36 squares between 1500 and 3000 px per side, all consistent, all trimmed from the middle where the item actually is. For the six shots taken tall with the item near the top of the frame, a second pass with the anchor set to top keeps the pendant and drops the empty table below it.

Limits, stated plainly

  • 50 files and 200 MB per batch.
  • The crop is always the largest rectangle of the chosen ratio that fits inside the original, so output size varies file by file.
  • Cropping only removes pixels. Nothing is scaled up or down, and the output is never larger than the input in either direction.
  • The same ratio and anchor apply to the whole batch. Two different framings mean two passes.
  • EXIF and colour profiles are not carried into the cropped file.

Every file in this batch is decoded, processed and re-encoded inside your browser tab. No image data is sent to a server, there is no queue, and there is no account. The ceilings above (50 files, 200 MB) exist because your device holds every decoded image in memory while it works.

What this tool will not do

  • It will not detect subjects. There is no face or object detection deciding where to crop; the anchor is a fixed geometric rule.
  • It will not resize the result to a fixed pixel size. Chain the bulk resizer afterwards if the storefront wants exactly 1200 × 1200.
  • It will not let you nudge one photo. When a specific image needs its own rectangle, the single-image cropper has a draggable box.

Why are my cropped files different pixel sizes?

Because cropping does not scale. A square cut from a 4000 × 3000 photo is 3000 × 3000, while a square cut from a 1200 × 900 photo is 900 × 900. Both are square, which is what a grid needs. If you also need one uniform pixel size, run the batch through the bulk resizer with "exact size" afterwards.

What does the anchor actually change?

It decides which part of the frame is kept when the shape changes. Centre keeps the middle and trims equally from both sides. Top keeps the upper portion — the right choice for standing subjects and for photos where the interesting thing is above the midline. The corners exist for logos and watermarked corners.

Can I crop to a custom ratio?

This page offers the ratios that cover almost every real requirement: 1:1, 4:5, 3:2, 4:3, 16:9 and 9:16. Anything else is a single-photo decision more than a batch rule, and the single-image cropper handles it with a free-form box.

Does it crop from the centre of the subject or the centre of the image?

The centre of the image. There is no subject detection here, which also means the result is completely predictable — the same photo always produces the same crop.

What happens to a photo that is already the right ratio?

It comes back essentially unchanged, with at most a one-pixel difference from rounding. It is still re-encoded, so the file size and metadata will change even though the framing does not.
